My hometown is Homewood, Alabama. That's where I landed my first TV job in middle school, anchoring a weekly newscast called "Kidsworld 13."
I earned a bachelor of science in journalism (BSJ) from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
Four years of cold weather sent me back south to pursue a career in broadcast journalism. Before moving to Knoxville in 2006, I reported and anchored news at local television stations in Birmingham, Little Rock, and Atlanta. I've also worked at CNN, CNN Headline News, and CNN Radio.
Off the job, I enjoy playing Sudoku and Scrabble, dancing at Jazzercise, reading library books, and watching college football.
My husband and I live in West Knoxville.
Emily is now a reporter and fill-in anchor for Live at Five @4.
