One man charged in Scott County weekend shooting

Update 11:26 a.m.

TBI and the Scott County Sheriff's Department charged a Helenwood man Sunday in a shooting over the weekend.

Authorities accused Gerald Nelson, 50, of shooting Dustin Gunter, 31, of Robbin, Tenn. at his home on Logap Road shortly before 11:40 p.m. Saturday.

TBI spokesperson Kristin Helm said Gunter and his girlfriend were staying overnight in Nelson's home. Gunter was shot to death in the kitchen following an argument with Nelson over $400.

Officials booked Nelson in the Scott County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

One man was killed in a shooting incident in Scott County shortly before 11:40 p.m. Saturday in Helenwood.

TBI spokesperson Kristin Helm said officials identified the body as Dustin Gunter, 31, of Robbins, Tenn. The resident of the home on Logap Road called police to report the shooting.

Scott County Sheriff's Office submitted the subject's body for autopsy and police haven't charged anyone at this time.
