Knoxville man killed in West Knox Co. crash

The Knox County Sheriff's Office has identified a man killed in a crash Thursday morning.

Investigators believe 21-year-old Tony Le of Knoxville was killed in a crash that occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday morning on Hardin Valley Road at Schaeffer Road in West Knox County.

Le, driving a red Honda Civic, was exiting Pellissippi Parkway. While coming down the ramp, his car veered into the oncoming lane of traffic and was t-boned by a silver Dodge Dakota coming up the ramp.

The driver of the Dodge Dakota, 62-year-old Larry Allison Jones of Lenoir City, was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Officers believe that Le was driving too fast for conditions

Emergency crews are on the scene of a fatal accident in West Knox County.

The wreck happened just after 9 am, on the ramp from Hardin Valley Road to Pellissippi Parkway, near where Shaeffer Road intersects the ramp.

According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, the driver of a red Honda Civic was exiting Pellissippi Parkway. While coming down the ramp, his car veered into the oncoming lane of traffic and was T-boned by a silver Dodge Dakota coming up the ramp. The driver of the Dodge Dakota, 62-year-old Larry Allison Jones of Lenoir City, was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Officers believe that the driver of the Civic was driving too fast for conditions. 

The name of the man killed will be released when his relatives have been notified.

That ramp was closed while the investigation continues.
