The Knox Co. Clerk's office is celebrating its newest satellite office in East Knox County.
The clerk's office that used to be inside the Knoxville Center Mall has moved to a new location in the former Markman's Jewelry Store building inside the Isaiah's Landing shopping center nearby.
Officials say the office space is better suited to serve taxpayers because it has more open space and a drive-up window for renewals.
Clerk Foster Arnett says the changes will make the office more efficient.
"I think the most important thing to realize about this office is over the next eight years, which is the life of the lease, we're going to be saving Knox County taxpayers in excess of $240,000 in rent and other related charges," said Arnett.
The Knox Co. Clerk's office also has satellite offices in Farragut, Halls, South and West Knoxville.
