Knoxville Police now say a man who was shot Tuesday evening in Fountain City was trying to attack the shooter.
Investigators say it appears Adam Martin, 34, of Knoxville, shot Johnny Lee Flynn, 31, of Sevierville, in self-defense. KPD says Flynn was about to attack Martin with a knife and brass knuckles when Martin shot Flynn. The two were in an argument over a vehicle.
Flynn has been charged with aggravated assault and having a prohibited weapon. He was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment. His current condition is not available.
Martin was not injured. He has not been charged.
