After a week of voting on wbir.com, Richie Boggs and Steven Whitson were announced as the winners of "The Voice: Knoxville Votes" competition.
Last Wednesday the two set out for their trip to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.
"I'm excited. I just can't wait to see what's out there for this competition or what's in store for Richie and I, or what God has in store for us and what we'll get out of this competition," said Steven.
"It's a really big step. Music is definitely a big thing in my life and I think this will point me in the right direction," said Richie.
Thousands made their way to Central Florida for the audition. The Voice crew had already been to New York, Chicago and Atlanta. After Orlando, the crew would head to Houston and finally Los Angeles. The competition was stiff, and Richie and Steven knew it. They sat and waited for their turn to sing in front of the talent scouts and producers.
After an hour, the two from Knoxville knew their fate. It was a no for this audition. Both kept a positive attitude despite the outcome.
"It was a song that I had practiced, but it wasn't what they were looking for," reflected Richie. "It's not the end though. I'm gonna keep playing music and hopefully it works out for me in the future."
